Allswell Mattress in room

Allswell launched in 2018 as Walmart’s first exclusively digitally brand. While Allswell is owned by Walmart, it operates independently and has cultivated its own distinct image. However, there are some notable similarities between Walmart and Allswell. Like its parent company, Allswell offers affordable prices.

The Allswell mattress is the company’s flagship model. The mattress is a hybrid, featuring individually-wrapped coils and a top layer of open-cell CoolFlow foam. The Allswell mattress comes with a 100-night sleep trial and a 10-year warranty. The mattress is sold at a remarkably low price compared to other hybrid mattresses. A queen-size Allswell mattress costs just $345.

But what does the Allswell mattress provide at such a low price point? Read our review to learn more about the Allswell mattress’s construction, firmness, pricing, pros and cons, and much more. Construction

The Allswell mattress is 10 inches tall and uses a hybrid design. As a hybrid, the Allswell mattress is constructed of distinct layers of foam and pocketed innerspring coils.

The top layer of the Allswell mattress uses .75 inches of open-cell CoolFlow foam quilted with the mattress cover. This foam layer is designed to contour to the body. The open-cell design offers greater airflow than many memory foams, which can promote a cooler night’s sleep. The quilted top panel features a signature “A” for “Allswell.”

The next layer of the mattress uses two inches of polyfoam to transition between the top layer and the innerspring layer.

The base layer of the Allswell mattress is composed of six inches of individually-wrapped coils that offer extra support, bounce, and breathability. They are individually wrapped to help reduce motion transfer, which can make you less likely to be disturbed when your partner changes position during the night. The addition of an innerspring layer also gives the Allswell mattress better edge support than most all-foam mattresses. A thin layer of polyfoam is located beneath the innerspring layer to provide a foundation for the springs.

The Allswell mattress uses CertiPUR-US certified foams. This certification denotes that the mattress tested free from certain potentially-harmful substances, including lead, mercury, formaldehyde, and more.

Firmness

The Allswell mattress offers one firmness option, which we consider medium firm, and is slightly firmer than some mattresses on the market. However, most sleepers usually find medium to medium-firm mattresses acceptable, so the Allswell mattress should appeal to a wide variety of sleepers. However, firmness is a personal preference, so this firmness might not be ideal for all sleepers. Sleepers who like a softer feel or who weigh less than 130 pounds may prefer a softer mattress, while sleepers who like a firmer feel or who weigh over 230 pounds may prefer a firmer mattress.

Pricing

The Allswell mattress is available in all standard sizes. The table below shares the list price for each mattress size. However, it is important to note that Allswell frequently offers discounts, which can bring the prices down even lower.

Allswell Mattress Breakdown

Below, we’ll share more information on the Allswell mattress’s construction, durability, conforming, edge support, temperature regulation, off-gassing, and motion isolation. Check out our methodology to learn more about our review process.

Is it made from quality materials?

The Allswell mattress uses quality materials, including CoolFlow foam and individually-wrapped coils. CoolFlow foam uses open cells, which provide greater breathability than many memory foams. Additionally, individually wrapping the coils of the innerspring layer reduces motion. The foams used in the Allswell mattress are CertiPUR-US certified, which means they’ve been tested for an array of potentially-hazardous substances, such as mercury, formaldehyde, lead, and more.

How long will it last?

Information on the densities of the foams used in the Allswell mattress is not publically available, so it is difficult to assess the overall durability. However, we would expect the Allswell mattress to last as long as most other hybrid mattresses, which is usually around 6-7 years. The Allswell mattress’s 10-year warranty provides an additional layer of protection if your mattress doesn’t hold up as well as expected.

How well does it conform to my body?

The Allswell mattress uses multiple layers of foam, which can contour to the body to provide pressure relief. Since the coils are individually-wrapped, they can move independently to allow the right areas to sink in for even greater contouring. The innerspring layer is also sturdy enough to prevent excessive sinking for most sleepers. However, since the mattress is slightly firmer than some, sleepers under 130 pounds may not experience as much contouring and thus find it less comfortable.

Is the edge supportive?

Like many other hybrid mattresses, the Allswell mattress features a supportive edge. When you approach the edge of the bed, foam can compress and make the perimeter of the bed feel unstable. A reinforced edge can prevent this, thereby expanding the usable surface area of the bed. The Allswell mattress’s innerspring layer offers edge support on two sides, making it easier to sit and sleep near the edge.

Does it sleep hot?

Memory foam top layers have a reputation for trapping heat near the body, but the Allswell mattress offers enough cooling features to provide a cooler night’s sleep than many mattresses that use memory foam. The open-cell CoolFlow foam in the top layer is more breathable than most standard memory foam. Similarly, the innerspring layer allows for greater airflow than all-foam support layers, which can allow heat to dissipate.

Will it off-gas when it’s delivered?

Like most other mattresses that use foam, the Allswell mattress may emit a slight odor when first introduced to your home. This odor is a result of manufacturing and compression. It is not harmful, but it may be displeasing to some. The odor should dissipate within a few hours to a few days if left in a well-ventilated space.

Will I feel my partner move during the night?

The Allswell offers excellent motion isolation, so you might not feel it much when your partner moves during the night. The top layers of foam can absorb a significant amount of motion, preventing it from being redistributed across the surface of the bed. Additionally, the innerspring layer uses pocketed coils, which can further isolate motion in the bottom layer of the mattress. The coils do have some bounce, which could cause some motion transfer. However, the combination of foam and pocketed coils should isolate motion well.

Who is Best Suited for an Allswell Mattress?

The Allswell mattress can accommodate a wide array of sleep styles and preferences. Side sleepers, back sleepers, and stomach sleepers can all find the Allswell mattress comfortable. The mattress’s contouring foam can relieve the pressure points that result from side sleeping. The innerspring layer can provide a stable, even surface that back sleepers often prefer. The firmness of the mattress can prevent most stomach sleepers from sinking in too deeply.

While the Allswell mattress can accommodate sleepers with varying weights, it may not be ideal for some weight groups. Since the Allswell mattress is on the firmer end of the medium range, some sleepers who weigh under 130 pounds may not sink in enough to enjoy contouring, so they may benefit from a slightly softer mattress. Similarly, some sleepers who weigh over 230 pounds may benefit from a slightly firmer mattress to avoid sinking in too deeply.

The Allswell mattress is particularly good for couples. The foam layers can limit motion transfer, which may reduce disturbances from your partner moving during the night. Additionally, the innerspring layer provides bounce, which can make it easier to change position during the night and engage in sexual activity.

Anyone on a budget might also find the Allswell mattress particularly appealing. The Allswell mattress’s list prices are already low. Additional discounts and promotions can drop the prices even more, making the Allswell mattress one of the most budget-friendly mattresses on the market.
