Child Welfare and Development (CWD) Scholarship for Students Pursuing a Degree in Social Work 2017-2018

Family Living Today (FLT) is excited to announce the 2017-2018 Child Welfare and Development Scholarship Award, which is open to students pursing a bachelor’s degree in social work at an accredited university, and will be awarded annually in the amount of $1,000.

One of our goals at FLT is to help build a world where every child can grow up healthy, protected from harm or trauma and educated so they can reach their full potential, no matter who they are or where they were born. The CWD Scholarship is one way we can advance this mission, while also helping the next generation of child welfare professionals reach their academic goals.

Who Can Apply?

We’re looking for promising young students in good academic standing, with extracurricular experience working with children who have experienced neglect or abuse, which might put them at risk to successfully transition into adulthood. If this sounds like you, we’d love to hear your story.

Scholarship Qualifications

To qualify, applicants must demonstrate both academic distinction in either sociology, psychology, social sciences or a related field, as well as a financial need. This scholarship will be awarded to undergraduate students studying social work with an academic emphasis in child welfare who plan to pursue a career in the field of child welfare.

In addition to the academic requirements, applicants must also demonstrate a personal history of working with or on behalf of traumatized, neglected or abused children, which can include research efforts or community work centered on the health, well-being and protection of children.

Through the CWD scholarship award, FLT will identify applicants who have above interests and criteria, and those who have demonstrated efforts aimed at protecting the well-being of children.

Award Recipient

One applicant will be chosen to receive the scholarship award in the amount of $1,000 each calendar year. This scholarship award program is an equal-opportunity award open to all qualified applicants who meet the eligibility requirements.
